I won’t be trading this Saturday
Hi.
I ‘d just like to let you know that I won’t be trading this Saturday. Yes yes, I know, it’s the Easter weekend, & business would probably be great, but I’ve been steadily developing a cold since two Saturdays ago (the day that was cold & hailing). I’ve kept it under control since then, working through it nevertheless, but today, I’m seriously feeling under the weather. On top of that, there are other factors that add to my decision. – My parents are away & I have been paying for childcare whilst I work. Plus, D’s best-mate is coming to stay over this Easter weekend which would be totally fun, I really like the guy, but the house is a right old tip… & this cold is making me feel unmotivated to do anything about it…
.
So anyway, hopefully I will be able to use this spare time at home to finally post the ‘Lemon Drizzle Cake recipe’ (with process pictures!) that’s been in the pipeline since last October. The cake is the same one that I sell on the stall, & have several self-proclaimed fans/ followers that come back week-after-week for a slice. Funny thing is, all of these customers are male – so my presumption is: ‘lemon drizzle’ is the one cake to make for male guests…!?
.
I hope all of you have a fantastic Easter weekend! And I apologize if there were any bloggy-visitors who were planning to come to my stall this Saturday. Sorry, & I really hope to see you another time…

Dear Tamami,
Sorry about the cold you caught on the day we came to your stall…
Hope you will take the most of the week-end to get some rest and regain a perfect health.
Looking forward to seeing the lemon cake recipe (by the way, as you suggested, we tried the brownie one which turned out to be a huge success!).
A bientôt,
Caroline (from France)

Hello Tamami, I hope you feel well soon. Funny about the lemon drizzle cake because many male friends around me love lemon cake too!

Hello Caroline, the weather that day was awful wasn’t it? Thank you for coming in that weather!!! I’m glad the brownie was a success! And I hope you shared it with your friend this time?? ;-) ;-)
.
hi Tommy! Ha! You’ve just further proved my ‘lemon drizzle’ male-love theory! ;-) ;-)

sorry to hear that you’re feeling poorly! & having to face a domicile dusting while sick is adding insult to injury! hope the youngest is well & looking forward to a basket. & i may be the only female who adores lemon (cake, bars, etc.).

Hey there!
I’m so glad I discovered you blog!
I’m about to undertake my very own market stall with a friend up in sunny Newcastle Upon Tyne and was wondering if you could offer a little help. I was hoping you could point me in the direction of a good packing material supplier? Boxes, bags and the like. I’d appreciate any help you could give me :)

Tamami,
sorry to hear you are not well. I agree about the lemon both my husband and son just drool over Lemon Cake, Tarte au Citron and any other lemon concoction.
Take care.

Hi Petoskystone, I also l.o.v.e lemon cakes too! I sell tarte au citron & lemon drizzle at the market – & my motto is to only make stuff that I love eating, just incase it doesn’t sell & I have to take it home, to eat it!!!
.
Hello Katie, I use Keylink & Reynards for my packaging! Good luck with your market stall, & do let me know how it goes!
.
Hello Trish! Ah! I see!! Cheers, now I am convinced with my theory!!! This is interesting bit of statistic we are undertaking!

I guess I will have to pop my Broadway Market cherry another time! Anyway, just delurking to that I hope that you enjoy the weekend and get better though.
I am also going to weigh in on the lemon drizzle cake issue; a few of my male friends believe it is the BEST cake ever, whereas us girls aren’t quite as fussed. Hmm, is this what truly divides the sexes?

Hope you feel better soon – hopefully in time for the weekend! Looking forward to the recipe, too (not sure about the gender divide though, I’ve always loved lemon sweets…) xx

I really enjoyed reading your blog. I am getting a friend of mine to buy some baking utensils, eg cookie ceramic/acrylic stamp and others baking items in London. Are you able to advise where she should go to?
Comment by andie - April 24, 2009 2:25 am
Hello Andie. Sorry for the late reply – I tend to not be able to write back on days that I work…! – I tend to get my utensils online – It’s the cheapest option.
.
But whenever I’m in the area (which is not very often), I drop by PAGES |(21 Shaftesbury Avenue), & another similar shop just 5 minutes walk away called Leon Jaeggi & Sons. (77 Shaftesbury Avenue). They both supply for professionals.
.
Other than that, there’s home user’s cookshop called Divertimenti (http://www.divertimenti.co.uk/) & Gill Wing (http://www.gillwing.co.uk/kitchen/), which is fun to browse in!
.
Hope this helps!

This is really lovely looking. Now I must hunt for that recipe you posted that can make a nice bed for fruit inside a tart!
