Quick message
HIIII!!! I’m just soooo excited! I just had to share the news with you…!
I just bought a hot chocolate machine online, & am going to start selling hot drinks from this Saturday…!!! It’s sooo gonna be the best – simply proper couverture chocolate, milk & double cream (no, not cocoa powder in sight). I’ll make it thicker than your standard kind, it’ll be like liquid ganache. Oooh, imagine… I’ll place the machine just next to my truffles & the chocolate boxes – isn’t that like, totally choccy heaven or what!?
Anyway, hope it goes well. I hope I won’t be stuck with gallons of chocolate drink at home time…! I feel giddy with excitement, but anxious with worry too…
sounds great! i hope it’s not extra heavy to be toting around…

Sounds like the drink we get in Venice. Almost like a sauce. Delicious!
Comment by Andrew - March 24, 2009 1:45 pm
It reminds me of the hot chocolate we had at the Scharffenberger chocolate factory… YUM! I’m sure it will be a hit!

I doubt you’ll have any leftovers, but if you do, you can always ship them to Chicago! ;D

Hi Rachel, we need to construct a hot-chocolate pipeline across the ocean to you! ;-)

I love chocolate drinks especially hot ones!! Don’t be anxious your booth is beautiful with the goodies you make and I believe the drink will be no less then exceptional, only one question what are you going to serve this in ceramic or plastic?? Take care, Diana
Comment by Diana - March 26, 2009 12:16 pm
Good luck! I hope you are SUPER successful.
Comment by Rozanne - March 26, 2009 6:57 pm
Thanks Rozanne!!!!
And, hi Diana, cheers, I’ve already ordered & received Paper cups with plastic lids. I decided to get plain white ones – much better than having a pre-printed picture/ pattern on it which is always tacky!!

It’s Sat morning now and I’m sitting at home in Highbury. Right, I’m getting on the bus and will see you and the hot chocolate machine in about half an hour…
I think your blog is fantastic and love reading about how you’re going.
Comment by Jen - March 28, 2009 11:25 am
Sounds delicious. Had I been in London still, I’d have been in the queue to get one for myself!
Comment by Murasaki Shikibu - March 28, 2009 1:39 pm
Hi, how was the response to your hot choolate?
Comment by Kay - March 29, 2009 5:19 pm
Thank you Chuck, & M.Shikibu!
.
And hello Jen, so did you manage to come to the stall? Are you the one that had a chat with me?
.
Hi Kay, the response, I’m glad to report, , was amazing! I just need to tweak the amount I make so that I don’t have any leftovers. That, is just a matter of trial & error I think! As time goes along, I will know what the average number is…

Dear Tamami,
We are the 2 French people who came to visit your stall last Saturday.
We can testify the chocolate machine was there, perfectly working: the chocolate made is incredibly tasty, neither thick nor liquid, not too creamy: the quintessence of Chocolate!
The brownies and truffles were excellent as well. The latter were supposed to be a gift but we couldn’t resist eating them on our way back to France!
Thank you for your brave smile on our picture, though the weather was not very supportive that day: bitter cold, wind, and even hailstorms! Hope you made good sales however.
By the way, Broadway market is a very nice place, with a real soul. We thank your blog for bringing us there!
Wish you all the best.
Kind regards,
Caroline & Emmanuel Tillous-Borde

glad you did well with the *real* hot chocolate. what a nice comment from caroline & emmanuel!
Comment by petoskystone - March 30, 2009 8:18 pm
Thanks Gine!!! Yes, it was really fun – the tap was towards them, & I would pour it in front of their eyes – you can hear the excitement from behind my back. To top it, I sprinkled shaving of dark chocolate, & again, you hear excitement. It was a ‘smile’ moment!
.
And thanks Petoskystone! I think selling truffles just alongside helped to convey that it was ‘real’ hot choc!
.
Caroline & Emmanuel,
thank you for leaving such a lovely lovely comment. I remember you & I remember commenting that you went for the ‘chocolate-fest’ with the selection of items! ;)
I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed the market! (I noticed that some of the stalls were not there because of the weather…) I hope the travelling was alright – It is a bit of a trek to get there (what with no direct train), so whenever there’s bloggy visitors, I feel kind of responsible…!
Re brownies: the recipe for it is online, so maybe you can make it for your friend instead??
Hope to see you again,
Tamami xx

Now that is a good idea – Well done you! It is soooo difficult to get decent hot chocolate … oh why can’t your stall be nearer???
Comment by somesaycocoa - March 31, 2009 10:19 pm
We tried your Hot Chocolate and it was absolutely delicious !
Perfect for a chilly day.
Chocolate icecream for the summer ? – I have a large icecream machine I don’t use if you’re interested. . .
B-)
Comment by Barny - April 1, 2009 12:46 am
THANK YOU Somesaycocoa, you’re right, I’m often disappointed with hot chocolate, I never dare buy it. But hey, now, I can simply drink my own!
.
Cheers Barny! I’m glad you liked it! Oooh, ice cream machine you say. So does it churn it & make it from ingredient – & then does it keep it chilled to display on stall?? – I’ll have a good think over it. – Thanks Barny, you’re a real help. t xx

Hi,
My organizaion is trying to market a cocoa product from Haiti as a way to get people out of poverty. We need hygiene guidelines for training the womens coop who will be doing all the work…grinding etc. Any ideas on where to go for this?
Comment by mk - November 2, 2009 6:25 pm
Hello MK, thank you for your enquiry, but, I haven’t a clue… Maybe you can ask the local organizations…? Sorry I can’t be of help, and good luck with your venture.
