Cookbook I like: REAL FAST FOOD BY NIGEL SLATER
It's one of my food-porn books that I take on train journeys instead of a novel. ~ I like that this book is just words, no pictures. Normally I would have said that every cookbook ought to have pictures for ALL the recipes, but, I make this the exception. The recipes read so well, that I can picture the dish being cooked in my mind...

Brilliant! Glad to know you’re feeling better. I will have just finished writing a paper for a conference (should be working on it now, grr, grumble) and will definitely be in need of a treat! xx

Hi Rachel,
it was great to see you today! Cheers for turning up!

It was nice to see you in good spirits! I loved the lemon tartlet – was I imagining things, or was there a layer of frangipane in there too? I’ve never come across that combo before, but now I wish it was more common…

A-ha! You noticed! Yup, that’s right, there’s a thin layer of frangipane then lemon cream filling! I thought that the lemon-cream alone would be too ‘zingy’ & ‘creamy’, if you know what I mean! – I’m glad you liked the tart. (enjoy Paris!! Lucky you!!)

Hi Tamami! :)
Nice to know you’re feeling better. Did you sell out of all your cakes on Sat?
I was wondering, do you have a recommendation for a good Japanese restaurant?
You can reply via email if you want, we can have a great big discussion re FOOD *___* My favouritest subject EVER lol!

Hey Jan!
The cakes/ tarts went really well last Sat, but struggled a bit on the chocolate truffles front… I wasn’t prepared to stand around in the cold wind, so I packed up around 4.30pm, with quite a fair bit to take home. I’m happily going through them right now (as in chomping on them!), God knows how I’m gonna shift post-delivery weight with this mentality!! :)
.
I lurve talking about food too! I scour anything food/ dessert related all the time! LOL.
& RE: Good Japanese restaurant in London:
If going upscale & wanna impress:
Matsuri in Green Park (and other locations)
But my absolute fave at the moment is:
AKARI in Angel/ Islington
The food is Izakaya-style, where you order bit by bit, of multiple little dishes & enjoy them over good drink(s). We went back there just last saturday!

Good job you didn’t stand around in the cold too, you have to take care of your health esp in your condition! Oooh new baby coming, soooooooo exciting! :) Thinking about babies makes me smile everytime!
Apparently when I talk about food my eyes shine LOL.
Thanks for the recs! I think I’ll try Akari first, I was after a decent restaurant to eat at whenever I feel like having Japanese, nothing too posh, gotta keep the dosh for the cakes ;)

Hi Tammi
Not sure if you got my first post about your cakes or not.
Hope you dont mind me asking but I am doing my second fair/fate stall and I am unsure what to do. I am doing twizzlers, chocolate lollies, cupcakes of course and larger cakes and choc brownies and rocky road. just unsure what to charge as im so new at this, hope you dont mind me asking just there no one else ive come across on line and your tarts etc look divine and i love your blog. Congrats on the pregnancy, do you know what your having? mark x

Hello Mark.
No, sorry, I didn’t get your earlier comment.
I think what you charge depends on the type of customers that come visit your market. How much are they prepared to pay for?
Consider your first year as research/ experience. You can always change the prices later anyway.

And by the way, I had my child over 2 years ago…!!
